Now please, we're not impressed that you built an orphanage in the Congo or that you've worked at every community legal centre in Sydney and organised the Law Ball. Everyone's done that. Don't show us how you padded your cv - tell us something real.

Looking for a mid level lawyer to join our corporate team.
Having proved that we can do even serious corporate-type law in a way which doesn't leave clients feeling like they'd rather eat their own kidneys than ever deal with lawyers again, we're looking for somebody truly exceptional to help make that happen.
The person we're seeking is a mid level lawyer, probably around 3 to 4 or even 5 years PQE, who has experience in corporate work, ideally covering at least 2 of private or public M&A, capital raisings and corporate governance, but we’re happy to chat with a keen bean who has some corporate law basics covered and is looking to skill up.
We'll need to be convinced that you want to be a really excellent lawyer and that you want to build on everything you’ve learnt in an environment which is about being a great team creating positive impact that makes us proud. This is not an opportunity for the faint-hearted.

You’ll be part of a high-performing, genuinely fun group of lawyers working across technology, AI, consumer goods, entertainment, social housing, construction and general commercial law. You don’t need to speak fluent code, but if you’re familiar with things like SaaS and hardware agreements, services agreements, general T&Cs, and data and privacy obligations, and enjoy helping fast-moving clients navigate them, you’ll feel right at home. Outside of that, if you have a can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves, this is the job for you.

- Providing practical, commercial advice on regulatory compliance, especially around the Privacy Act and GDPR (including drafting privacy policies).
- Managing client relationships and retainers.
- Contributing to the growth of team and business through the delivery of legal updates.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 2-4 years PQE with a current Australian practicing certificate.
- Strong general commercial experience, including experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Familiarity with technology contracts.
- Ability to deliver fast, clear, confident and commercially-focused advice.
- Excellent communication skills and a knack for balancing multiple client needs.
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to.
What sets Marque apart
The reason Marque Lawyers exists is to use law for good. This is as simple as it sounds. We did not become lawyers just to spend our careers navigating corporate clients around legal roadblocks and maximising our personal incomes. Marque is a certified B Corp, which says that our business is led by a purpose other than profit. Read more about that here: www.bcorporation.com.au (http://www.bcorporation.com.au).
Marque Lawyers is a law firm that doesn’t measure the value of its people or its clients in six-minute units of time. We don’t charge by the hour - all of our clients are on retainers or fixed fees, which means you can focus on relationships and great work.
